Portfolio II

Over the course of September, I have completed a series of projects that highlight the complexity and different variations of a sound designer's work.  I learned how to layer sounds more efficiently and how to more accurately depict textures when trying to match a sound to an action/event.  For example, pictured to the left is a lava formation that we had to make ambient soundscapes for.  I found this project to be the most enjoyable because of how we drastically bent normal household sounds to become deep, encapsulating ambient loops.

All Coming Together

As a part of our final assignments, along with my classmates, I put all my final work into an iMovie to show how everything came together in one project.  Below is a clip from the video and as you can see, the work spans anywhere from the movement of a level to the firing of a "cannon"like object.  Throughout the course I've discovered I like how creative you can get with the actual sound design itself.  For example, we were dealing with a old kind of rusty lever and because of that we needed to make the motion of it a squeaky, unpleasant push.  The options you have when deciding on your sources is pretty much unlimited as well and it leaves a lot of room to get creative.
